Żegnamy prawdziwego monarchę polskiej muzyki. Wielkiego kompozytora, obywatela świata i Polski, który był jej ambasadorem. Artystę, z którego szczególnie dumna była Polonia. Jego muzyka przetrwa nas wszystkich pozostając na zawsze dziedzictwem całej ludzkości. Ars longa vita brevis.

On behalf of all my colleagues at the London office of Schott Music, I send heartfelt condolences to the family of Krzysztof Penderecki, most particularly to Elżbieta. I will always be grateful for the deep generosity, dignity and humanity of Maestro Penderecki, and of course for his music, which will last forever.

Profesor był wielką postacią kultury światowej ale przede wszystkim bezpośrednim, ciepłym człowiekiem i takim zachowam go a pamięci. Był symbolem polskiej muzyki na świecie i nim pozostanie, tak jak pozostaną z nami na zawsze jego utwory. Wyrazy głębokiego współczucia dla Pani Elżbiety i całej rodziny oraz bliskich Profesora.

Krzysz's roots were widely spread in many centuries and musical traditions...as a great humanist he let this energy flow into his compositions and the branches of his genius-tree...thus reaching out into the wider skies of our fantasy and emotions. Thank you Krzysz, for the treasure you left for all of us in your music!

Dear Elzbieta, As members of the Scharoun Ensemble our thoughts are with you and Krzysztof. These thoughts are those of sorrow but also of tremendous gratitude. From the bottom of our hearts we would like to express our sympathy as to the loss of your beloved husband. Krzysztof was one of the truly great musicians of our time. The world has lost an iconic composer and conductor, one whose profound musical influence over last sixty years was equaled only by a very select few.                  One of the world’s significant cultural institutions, the “Krzysztof Penderecki European Center of Music”, was made possible by Krzysztof’s tireless commitment to the future of music. The members of the Scharoun Ensemble are happy to be a part of the yearly chamber music academy that has taken place at the KPECM since 2014. Visiting you and Krzysztof in your beautiful house and wonderful garden will remain an unforgettable experience for us all! It was a great privilege to get to know the great maestro also from the personal side, as a warm-hearted host with a great sense of humor well as passionate and talented gardener. Krzysztof has left an empty space that cannot possibly be filled, but his spirit will live on through his musical masterpieces as well as his Music Center in Lusławice. We sincerely hope to soon have a chance together to musically express our sorrow together.                      May God bless and comfort you during this difficult time, please accept our heartfelt condolences!     

Kiedy odchodzi ktoś naprawdę wielki, świat staje w miejscu. Kiedy odchodzi genialny Kompozytor, Dyrygent i Pedagog, świat nie przestaje żyć Jego muzyką... Non omnis moriar. Elżbieto, jesteśmy z Tobą.

Dearest Maestro, I am grateful for every moment of our time together. In Cracow, in Lusławice, during our many travels together. Thank you for your warmth, your wisdom, your sense of humour, the transcendent beauty of your music. It is here to stay with us forever! It has been a privilege to know you and perform “Winterreise”, our Horn Concerto under your baton. Thank you for the epic Sextet and the Capriccio per Radovan “A Hunter’s Dream”. Requiescat in pace! Dearest Elżbieta, our thoughts and prayers are with you during this time of mourning. May we find consolation in music, faith and nature!

Odejście Profesora Krzysztofa Pendereckiego przyjęliśmy z ogromnym smutkiem i głębokim żalem. Brakuje słów, by opisać, jak wielką i niepowetowaną stratą dla całej polskiej i światowej kultury jest śmierć Profesora. Był On dla nas wszystkich nie tylko Patronem - był Autorytetem, Wzorem i Inspiracją. Ogromnym zaszczytem było dla nas uświetnić 85. rocznicę urodzin Profesora, a Jego słowa pochwały zapadły nam w pamięć do końca życia. Wśród wielu wspaniałych dzieł, które pozostawił po sobie Maestro Penderecki, dla nas szczególne znaczenie ma Europejskie Centrum Muzyki - żywy pomnik Profesora. Pragniemy wyrazić bezgraniczną wdzięczność za powołanie do życia tak wspaniałego miejsca, które stworzyło nam i setkom innych młodych artystów wymarzone warunki do rozwoju. Profesor na zawsze pozostanie w naszej pamięci jako Wielki Człowiek, a ogrom Jego wspaniałych dzieł stanowi dziedzictwo kulturowe, które przez wieki będzie czyniło ten świat lepszym i piękniejszym.
